Well, here we come to a design problem. If all art is framed with neutral color rag boards, it would be rather dull and sometimes be visually catastrophic. Most fabric contains pigments and worse formaldehyde.

Fabrics should never be in direct contact with the art. A minimum barrier of a 4 ply rag board should be used at all times. Some conservators recommend washing the fabrics, some using muslin only, it is our experience that if the above directives are being followed, risk will be minimized.
